7 things I don’t regret spending money on as a freelance graphic designer... the last one might surprise you!

  1. Adobe Creative Cloud + Adobe Stock

Industry standard design software I have been using since 2004. I add on an Adobe Stock subscription so I get access to thousands of premium stock images and creative elements.

  1. Nice fonts

There’s something about a beautiful font that makes a designer go crazy! Premium fonts can elevate designs, so are truly worth the cost.

Cloud accounting software that sends invoices, tracks finances and probs a lot more than my creative brain can handle!

  1. FreeAgent

Technically, I actually get this software for free (and you can too) you just need to open a Mettle business account.

  1. iMac/MacBook/iPad/iPhone/AirPods/AirTag

Yep they got me, but I just love the beauty of Apple products and the seamless experience when having various Apple devices.

  1. Co-working

I love working from home but I also really enjoy spending time with other biz owners, where we can share knowledge, skills, work and also support each other in a super relaxed way. I prefer co-working over networking as you naturally build up ‘(co)work friends’ and can hide behind your laptop if needed instead of forced into small talk 🫠

  1. Wix website

I think Wix is so easy-to-use and great if you want a website that is an extension of your brand. I’ve been using Wix myself and for clients, for over 7 years. The platform comes with loads of features, plus, it’s simple to upgrade/downgrade at any time and the support is excellent too.

  1. Canva!

Yes, I’m a professional graphic designer and yes I pay to use Canva even though I pay a £50 a month Adobe subscription. Why? Because it makes my life easier! I can upload all my clients’ templates so they can edit them and I can save each of my clients’ brand kits so I have all their set fonts and colours in one place.
